What technologies do you offer?
FDM, SLA, and MJF/SLS in-house, across a wide range of polymers. If you need metal, ask us and we'll walk you through the options.
How many parts can you make?
Anything from a single prototype to a few thousand, depending on geometry. With 75+ machines we bridge-produce and scale up when a job needs it.
Which material should I choose?
That's our job to help with. Tell us how the part will be used - load, heat, finish, environment - and we'll recommend a material that fits.
Can you finish the parts so they look final?
Yes. We can sand, paint, dye, and assemble so parts arrive looking the way you need them to.
How fast can I get a quote?
Send your files or a description and we'll come back quickly with price, process, and timeline.
How accurate are your scans?
It depends on the scanner we use. Our Artec Spider captures detail down to 50 microns (0.05mm) for small parts, while the Leo and Ray trade some of that precision for portability and long range.
How big - or small - can you scan?
From tiny intricate parts up to objects hundreds of feet across. We pick the scanner that fits your object.
What do I get back?
Clean 3D data ready for whatever's next - rendering, reverse engineering, inspection, or printing. Tell us the end use and we'll deliver the right format.
Can you come to the object?
Often, yes. The portable Leo lets us scan on site when the object can't come to us.
I'm not technical. Can you still help?
Definitely. Most of our clients aren't CAD people. Bring a sketch, photos, or a plain description and we'll turn it into a real model.
Will the model be ready to print or manufacture?
Yes. We design parts that can actually be built, because we're the ones who build them too.
Can you work from a 3D scan?
Yes - we can turn scan data into a clean, editable CAD model you can keep refining.
Do you keep the files for me?
Yes. We keep a copy of your files for our records, in line with our data retention policy.
What files will I receive?
Mesh files or STEP files, based on what you need. A mesh is great for printing or visualization; a STEP file drops cleanly into CAD for further design work.
How accurate is the result?
We validate the converted model against the original part before delivery, so you can build on it with confidence.
Can you improve the part, not just copy it?
Yes. Once it's digital, we can refine it - fix weak points, change fitments, or prepare it for manufacturing.
Do I need to ship you the part?
Often that's the easiest path, but if you're near Tampa a local drop-off by arrangement works too. Let's talk first - there may be other options depending on the part.
How fast can I get a prototype?
It depends on the part, but speed is the whole idea. Send your file or concept and we'll give you a real timeline up front.
I don't have a CAD file. Can you still help?
Yes. We can model your idea first, then prototype it.
Can the prototype become the real product?
Often the same design carries straight into production. We build with that next step in mind.
What materials or processes do you use for prototypes?
It depends on what you need to test - looks, strength, or fine detail. We match the process and material to that goal, and can switch processes between revisions if the part calls for it.
Can I pick up my prototype in Tampa, or do you ship?
Both. Local pickup in Tampa is by arrangement, and we ship prototypes anywhere in the US.
How much does a repair cost?
It depends on what's wrong and what your machine needs, but we diagnose it and tell you before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
How long does it take?
Usually a few days. Repair isn't instant; we test the machine after we fix it so you don't drive home with a printer that fails on the next print.
What brands and models do you repair?
Nearly all of them. The vast majority of what we see is consumer machines, but we are comfortable across makes and models. If you aren't sure, just ask.
Do you offer on-site repair?
Yes. House calls are available for an added cost. Drop-off by arrangement is cheaper and faster if you are local to Tampa.
My printer fell or got damaged in shipping. Is it a lost cause?
Often, no. Physical damage is one of the most common reasons machines come to us, and a lot of them go home working. Send a photo and we'll give you our honest take.
Is this for individuals or companies?
Companies. This is B2B consulting for bringing additive manufacturing in-house. If you're an inventor or individual, our invention help services are a better fit, and we're glad to help there.
We already started and it's a mess. Now what?
That's more common than you'd think, and it's fixable. We'll assess what you have, tell you honestly what's normal and what isn't, and get you to a setup that works.
Can you help us hire and train people?
Yes. We help find, train, and place the right staff so your operation has people who actually know how to run it.
What about keeping the machines running?
We offer service contracts with on-site repair, so a machine going down doesn't take your production with it.
Product Design
I only have an idea, not a design. Is that enough?
Yes. An idea is exactly where we start. We'll take it from concept all the way to a product you can make.
Can you take it all the way to production?
We can. Design, prototyping, and production happen under one roof, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.
How do I protect my idea?
We can talk through that early. Many of our product clients are protecting something new, and we handle ideas with care.
How long does it take to go from idea to prototype?
It depends on how complex the product is, but many projects reach a first physical prototype in a couple of weeks. Bring us your idea and we'll give you a real timeline, not a guess.
Will you sign an NDA before we talk about my idea?
Yes, just ask. We work with new product ideas every week and treat every conversation as confidential, NDA or not.
Can you handle a full production run, or just a few units?
Both. We take products from a first small batch through ongoing production, in the same Tampa shop that designed and prototyped them.
Invention Help
I just have an idea. Is that enough to start?
Yes. An idea is the starting point. The more you can tell us, the less work we have to bill for - but a clear description is plenty to begin.
How do I keep my idea protected?
We're NDA-friendly, and our patent attorney partners can explain your options and help you pursue patent protection.
Can you take it all the way to a finished product?
Yes - design, prototyping, and production all happen here, so your invention can go from idea to shelf without scattering across vendors.
Do I need a patent before you'll work with me?
No. Most inventors come to us before filing anything. We can start on design and prototyping right away, and bring in our patent attorney partners whenever you're ready to talk protection.
What does it cost to get started?
It depends on the scope of your idea. Tell us where things stand and our Tampa team will put together a straightforward quote before any billable work begins.
How many parts can you actually produce?
Up to a few thousand, depending on the part's geometry. Most short runs are 1,000 or fewer. Above that, we'll talk honestly about whether printing is still your best option.
What is bridge production?
It's making real parts now, with printing, to cover the gap while slower traditional tooling gets set up - so a delay doesn't stall your launch.
Can you scale up if demand grows?
Yes. With 75+ machines we meet most demand quickly and add capacity when a job needs it.
Do I need to redesign my part for 3D printing?
Not always. Many parts print well as-is, but small tweaks to wall thickness, support angles, or tolerances can cut cost and improve quality. We review every file and suggest changes only when they make a real difference.
General
Which industries does 3D Musketeers work with?
We work most often with product design, rapid prototyping, manufacturing, powersports, automotive crash reconstruction, historical preservation, and museums. Each has its own dedicated page with full details.
Can you help an industry not listed here?
Yes. These are just the fields where our work shows up most. If your project needs a physical part or an exact digital copy, tell us what you're working on and we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit.
Do you serve clients outside Tampa?
We do. Our shop is in Tampa, FL, and most hands-on work happens here, but we ship finished parts nationwide and can travel for on-site scanning jobs.
How do I know which service my industry needs?
You don't have to. Describe the problem you're trying to solve and we'll figure out the right combination of scanning, CAD, printing, or production for you.
Automotive Crash Scanning
What do I actually receive?
Accurate 3D scan data of the vehicle - a digital record you and your experts can measure, view from any angle, and keep on file. Tell us how you'll use it and we'll deliver it in a format that fits.
Do you perform the accident reconstruction?
No - that's your experts' role. We provide the precise 3D capture they build their analysis on.
How fast can you get out to scan a vehicle?
We know timing is critical before a vehicle moves. Contact us as early as possible and we'll work to capture it quickly.
Can you scan a specific area of damage?
Yes. Whether it's the whole vehicle or a focused area, tell us what matters and we'll capture it.
Forensic Pathology
What do I receive from a forensic scan?
Accurate 3D scan data of the anatomy or object - a digital record your team can measure, view from any angle, and keep on file indefinitely. We deliver in a format that fits your workflow.
Do you perform the forensic analysis?
No. We provide the precise 3D capture; analysis and conclusions remain with your pathologists, medical examiners, and expert witnesses.
Is the scanning process touch-free?
Yes. Our Artec scanners capture high-resolution detail without contact, markers, or any alteration to the subject. The original condition stays undisturbed.
Can you produce a physical model for the courtroom?
Yes. We can 3D print a measurable physical replica from the scan data, giving jurors something they can hold and examine firsthand.
Museum & Accessible Exhibits
Can you replicate a fragile or one-of-a-kind artifact?
Yes. We scan the original without harming it, then produce a durable replica visitors can handle while the real piece stays protected.
Will the replica hold up to constant handling?
That's the point. We choose materials and finishes made to survive thousands of visitors.
Can you make pieces specifically for blind and low-vision visitors?
Yes - tactile accessibility is one of the main reasons museums come to us. We design for touch from the start.
Can you scale a piece up or down?
We can. Objects too large, too small, or too delicate to share can be reproduced at a size that works for the exhibit.
Historical Preservation
Will scanning damage a fragile piece?
No. We capture the geometry without harmful contact, so even delicate objects are safe.
Can you recreate a part that's completely missing?
Often, yes - working from reference, surviving sections, or historical documentation, we can model and print a faithful replacement.
What do I get to keep?
An accurate digital record you can archive, plus any physical reproductions the project calls for.
What types of historic objects can you work with?
Architectural elements, clock parts, decorative millwork, monuments, statues, gravestones - anything with physical geometry we can capture in a 3D scan.
Powersports
I only have the broken original. Can you still help?
Usually, yes. A worn or partial part is often enough for us to scan, rebuild, and reproduce.
Will a printed part be strong enough?
It depends on the part and the load, which is exactly why we choose the material and process to match. Tell us how it'll be used and we'll spec it right.
Can you make just one?
Absolutely. One-off parts and small runs are a big part of what we do.
Do you work with metal parts or just plastic?
We specialize in polymer and composite 3D printing, which covers a huge range of powersports applications. For parts that need metal, we can advise on the best path forward.
Is the Making Awesome Academy free?
Our YouTube channel is completely free and always will be. The Making Awesome Academy is a deeper, structured program with its own pricing - reach out and we'll share the details.
Do I need a 3D printer to start learning?
No. You can learn the fundamentals - design thinking, CAD basics, material science - before you ever touch a machine. When you're ready, we'll help you pick the right one.
What topics do you cover?
Everything from first-print basics to advanced design, material selection, slicer settings, and troubleshooting. We teach what we use daily in our Tampa production shop, so it's always practical and current.
Who teaches the courses?
The same team that runs 75+ printers and serves professional clients every day. We teach from experience, not textbooks.
What does consumer advocacy mean in 3D printing?
It means holding manufacturers accountable for practices that hurt buyers - fighting for the right to repair your own printer, calling out planned obsolescence, and providing honest, unsponsored reviews so you can make informed decisions.
Why does 3D Musketeers advocate for consumers?
Because we use this technology every day at our Tampa shop. When a company ships firmware that locks out third-party filament or voids a warranty for a routine repair, it affects us and every maker who depends on their equipment.
Do you name specific companies?
We focus on practices, not personalities. When a pattern like locked-down firmware, artificial consumable limits, or misleading specs is widespread enough to matter, we explain what is happening so you can make your own informed choice.
How can I report an anti-consumer practice?
Use our contact page to tell us your story. The more people share their experiences, the harder it is for bad practices to go unnoticed. We review every submission and may cover the issue on our YouTube channel.
What is the right to repair in 3D printing?
It means you should be able to fix, maintain, and modify the printer you paid for - without being locked out by proprietary parts, paywalled spare-part diagrams, or software restrictions. We believe ownership means real ownership.
How much does 3D printing cost?
Every project is different - cost depends on material, size, complexity, and quantity. Upload your files on our quote form and we'll send a detailed quote, often the same day. No obligation, no hidden fees.
What file types do you accept?
We accept STL, STEP, OBJ, 3MF, IGES, and most other common CAD formats. Not sure about your file? Send it anyway - we'll let you know if we need a different format. Maximum 5 files, 25 MB total.
Do you offer NDAs for confidential projects?
Yes. We regularly work under NDA with engineers, product designers, and R&D teams. Let us know when you submit your quote request and we'll get the paperwork sorted before reviewing your files.
