3D Scanning Services / Tampa, FL

3D Scanning Services in Tampa

From a coin to a stadium. No more relying on 2D photos to tell a 3D story. From our Tampa shop, we capture just about anything in accurate, measurable 3D - as fine as 0.05 mm (50 microns), and broad enough to capture a whole building.

The right scanner for the job

Scanners for every scale

Perspective is everything. We match the scanner to your object - tiny and intricate, or huge and far away.

Artec Spider

50-micron (0.05mm) precision for small, intricate parts. Structured light, no marker dots needed.

Artec Eva

Up to 0.1mm accuracy at 16 FPS with structured white light. Our workhorse for medium-sized parts, reverse engineering, and inspection.

Artec Leo

Portable handheld scanning, no PC required, around 0.1 mm accuracy. Gets into tight spaces on site.

Artec Ray

Long-range LiDAR scanning across 300+ feet, built for large spaces like buildings, bridges, and stadiums.

We also run a Matter and Form THREE turntable, Creality blue-laser scanners, photogrammetry and, through our partner Lumafield, industrial CT. See how each one works.

How it works

From object to usable data

A scan is only useful if the data fits what you need to do next. Here is what happens between "here is the object" and "here is your file."

  1. Tell us what you needSend the object or describe it, and tell us what you will do with the data: inspection, reverse engineering, a court exhibit, a print. The end use decides the scanner, the level of detail, and the file format.
  2. We capture itWe match the scanner to the object and scan in our Tampa shop or on site. Most objects need several passes from different angles to catch every surface, including undercuts and hidden faces.
  3. We clean and align the dataIn Artec Studio we align the passes into one dataset, remove noise and stray points, fill small holes, and optimize the mesh so it is clean and manageable instead of an oversized, noisy point cloud.
  4. You get data you can useA clean mesh (STL or OBJ), or a STEP file when you need to edit the part in CAD. For inspection and reverse engineering we can add a color-mapped deviation report that shows where the model and the real part differ.
Which scanner

Not sure which scanner fits? Start with the object

You do not have to pick. Tell us what you have and what you need from the data, and we choose the scanner. As a rule of thumb:

  • A small part with fine threads, fillets, or tight tolerances: the Artec Spider
  • A medium-sized part for reverse engineering or inspection: the Artec Eva
  • Something bolted to a machine, in a tight space, or at your site: the Artec Leo
  • A building, bridge, accident site, or stadium: the Artec Ray

Tell us the material, too. Very shiny, dark, or see-through surfaces are harder for any optical scanner, so we plan for them before the scan instead of after. Curious how each kind of scanner actually works? See Types of 3D Scanners, with the pros and cons of each.

What it's for

When a scan beats a guess

A 3D scan gives you data you can measure, share, and build on - in court, in a meeting, in a proposal, or on the shop floor.

What we deliver is accurate 3D data. For legal, forensic, and engineering work, the analysis and conclusions stay with your expert. We give them clean data to build on.

Real scans

What a finished scan looks like

Two jobs from our own shop:

  • A tower clock ornament. A 109.6 mm bronze ornament with a verdigris surface, scanned in full color with the Artec Spider for Boyd Clocks, who are restoring a tower clock for the City of Clearwater. We printed a replica so the patina could be worked out. See the conservation work.
  • A real crash. A damaged vehicle captured in measurable 3D before repair, so its exact condition is preserved. See crash scanning.

Your scan doesn't have to stop at data

Once we've captured your object, we can clean it up for rendering, reverse engineering, or 3D printing - so a real-world thing becomes a digital file, and a digital file becomes a real-world thing again. Scanning museum or collection pieces? See our object conservation support.

Questions

Frequently asked

How accurate are your scans?

It depends on the scanner we use. Our Artec Spider captures detail down to 50 microns (0.05mm) for small parts, the Eva offers up to 0.1mm accuracy for medium-sized objects, while the Leo and Ray trade some of that precision for portability and long range.

How big - or small - can you scan?

From tiny intricate parts up to objects hundreds of feet across. We pick the scanner that fits your object.

What do I get back?

Clean 3D data ready for whatever's next - rendering, reverse engineering, inspection, or printing. Tell us the end use and we'll deliver the right format.

Do you offer on-site scanning?

Often, yes. The portable Leo lets us scan on site when the object can't come to us.

How much does a 3D scan cost?

It depends on the size of the object, how much detail you need, whether we travel to you, and what you want back. Tell us about the job through the quote form or call (813) 803-4973 and we will price it. A short, free consultation is available if you want to talk it through first.

Can you scan something shiny, dark, or transparent?

Those surfaces are harder for any optical scanner, so tell us the material up front and we plan for it before the scan, not after. Our scanners do not need marker dots, and we do not touch the object.

Do you scan in color?

For many jobs, yes. Several of our scans, like the historic clock part and the crashed vehicle shown on this site, are full color. Tell us if color matters and we will choose the scanner for it.

What file formats do you deliver?

Meshes as STL or OBJ (with color texture when it was captured), or a STEP or IGES file when you need to edit the part in CAD. Tell us the software you will use and we will match it.
